02. GOLDEN HAIR Hand mirror
This over sized hand mirror can turn 360º in its frame or be removed and used as a conventional hand mirror. It is carved from lime and then water gilded where gold is meticulously layered on repeatedly. The more layers of gold the better the effect. It is then burnished with smooth jade stones before finally being waxed.
Dimensions - 60cm H x 45cm W x 15cm D
Details - 24 karat gold leaf finish. Burnt wood handle.

ELEMENTs & INFLUENCE
One of the first ways we register transformation is by something we do with our hair. Hair has played a role in initiations marking major transitions and coming-of-age rites for thousands of years. Hair can be contained, left flowing or covered up. Its colour, volume or length can be altered dramatically. We hide behind it and can lose it but we can never stop it growing. Hair is just one way of indicating to others the convictions we carry though our lifetime.
